Mothercraft Nurse

Mothercraft Nurses are available days, nights and 24hour live-in. They have had specialised training in the growth and development of children from newborn to 5 years. They are able to help in a number of areas:

Respite

Coming home with a new baby can be extremely exhausting, physically and emotionally. You can feel confident in leaving your young baby with a Mothercraft Nurse to go out to lunch, dinner or a function, or just to catch up on some much needed sleep during the day.

A good night's sleep can make all the difference to your relationship with your new baby, your partner and the rest of your family and friends. Our nurses can come in and stay overnight to tend to your baby so you can get much needed rest. This may mean you only have to breastfeed, and then hand the baby back to the nurse to settle, or the nurse can feed expressed breast milk or formula overnight.

Confidence

Bringing a new baby home can be very daunting. A Mothercraft Nurse can help with dealing with day-to-day issues that can arise with newborns. The nurse can reassure and build confidence in new mothers.

Routine and Settling

Babies go through unsettled periods for many reasons. A Mothercraft Nurse can help with this by assessing the baby and teaching appropriate settling techniques.

Routines are changing constantly and learning how to deal with this is very helpful.

Sleeping

Mothercraft Nurses are also trained in helping with sleep issues (with the baby). We have special sleep programs for babies over 6 months of age. Babies under 6 months don't respond to this particular program, but other techniques are offered.

Toddler Management

Toddlers certainly have a mind of their own. Learning to cope with these issues can, at times, prove to be difficult. Mothercraft Nurses are skilled to help support you in these areas.
